Welcome!

Welcome!

There have been a lot of new visitors recently so I wanted to say, Welcome and thank you for stopping by my website! I hope you find some fun and interesting things around here and I wanted to share a little about myself as you browse my website.

I am Rachel Ann Michael Harris and I'm a writing of Middle Grade and Teen Fantasy (but really, I write whatever I like which means I have an eclectic collection of work). I self-published my first novella in 2021, The Beauty of Magic, and am working on my next release (I have a tendency to have multiple projects going at once so I'll keep you in the know when one is close publication). I also have written and published several short and flash fiction stories in anthologies and through Havok Publishing. I announce when those become available on my social media so be sure to follow me on Facebook or Instagram for book pictures and to hear about my stories.

I'm a dog mom. My pup's name is Mitsu (he's pictured above with me) who is so sweet and loves people. He also loves water and being chased. He sometimes is more cat than dog in his choice of games. He was a rescue and is a very good boy but tends to jump on people when he gets excited. You are immediately his best friend when you meet.

I've been learning to crochet this year so if you visit my socials, you'll see my monthly reading summary posts with pictures of the books and their matching Granny Square that I made to represent them. Stay tuned for when I put all these squares together at the end of the year.

I love supporting independent book stores and my local story has been so supportive of me and my writing for years. If you have a local indie store, support them. It can be a great community and experience.

One of my biggest weaknesses is spelling. Can't spell to save my life. Sometimes I just mistype or autocorrect takes matters into its own digital hands but, often times, I just made the mistake. I've actually had more than one person ask me how I can become a writer if I can't spell. But spelling and creativity are two very different things and the one can be addressed as long as I'm aware of my weakness and seek help (like editors and proofreaders) for it. If someone tries to question your dream or your work on a small thing, especially one you can ask for additional help with, don't let them hold you back. Show them what you can do even with that struggle.

I'm Catholic so you'll probably hear me bring up my faith from time to time. Like today is the last Sunday of the liturgical year and next week with the first week of Advent is a new one so, Happy New (Liturgical) Year!

Speaking of Advent, what is your favorite holiday? I love Christmas with all the pretty lights and decorations (and the presents were great too when I was a kid. Still love presents but I also enjoy other aspects of the holiday with getting older). There is also some great music.

I also love music. While I know how to play a couple of different instruments, I don't practice nearly enough so I constantly have to relearn stuff when I pull one out. Some of my favorite music are from movies but I also love Christian Pop and Country.

I know there is more I can so but I'll stop there. Again, thank you for visiting. Enjoy browsing my website where you can find some articles, my writing projects, and even my novella as well as some anthologies I've contributed to for sale. If you'd like a signed copy of my book, you can order it from this website and it'll be shipped to you. If you want to receive more regular updates, you can follow me on social media. Have a great day!
